Our First Baby : Riki Irie

Guam Trip (May 1st-May 7th, 2009)

Mommy n daddy challenged themselves to bring 2 babies (me n Riko) to Guam this time. We took the morning flight and arrived in Guam at around 2:00p.m. The whole journey in d plane was going smoothly and none of us were cranky. A good way to go around Guam is by getting either the daily bus ticket or weekly one. Since we're staying for almost a week here, we got the weekly ticket. The bus stops at most of d shopping places n major hotel. We rented a car for a day and went around Guam....we stopped by for lunch at Joe's pirate cove before visiting the Torofofo Falls. We also celebrated dad's birthday at Sam Choy's restaurant. Mommy surprised daddy by requesting the waitresses there to sing Happy Birthday song to daddy. He just never expected this to happen..:)! Well...for most of d time, we just enjoyed the pools in Hilton hotel. I just love to go on the slides...mommy was trying hard to keep up with me. Lots of junk food for both mom n dad.....n toys for us....thank you mom n dad for this wonderful trip. お疲れ様でした。楽しかった。また連れてね。

Riki's 2nd Birthday （January 19, 2009)

Daddy was kept busy since morning for the preparation of my birthday. Aunt Yukiko n Mieko were kind enough to help mommy making my birthday cake. The birthday party all went well, and we had lots of fun. Thank you everyone for celebrating my 2nd birthday together. To make the party looks merrier and since Chinese New Year is a week later from my birthday, mommy forces us to wear the Chinese wear which daddy bought from China. :)みんなありがとうね。

Moms have fun time taking pictures of these babies. Aunt Elvi is Jaslyn's mom, Aunt Lisa is Yuto's and Lena's mom. It's so hard to organize us to look at the camera. We were invited by aunt Mieko for Shinzo's sports day. Riki was more excited than anyone else. He ran, shouted, danced and received a complimentary prize as well for participating in the dancing event. Poor Riko..he just stayed cozily in his baggy and slept almost throughout the whole event. Everyone has prepared various kind of delicious food for lunch break....ご馳走様でした。One of the cutest thing is when Saku carrying his mom's camera and walking around like a professional photographer. He's just so cute....:)

Mother Farm

Nai2(mom's mom)...that's how I call her. Nai2 came along with us back to Japan from Indonesia so that she can help mommy to watch after two babies (me n Riko :)). However, she only stayed for 2 weeks. While she was in Japan, daddy brought all of us to Mother Farm. It was a really interesting place with lots of farm animals such as pigs, sheeps, cows etc. We really enjoyed watching the nature and beautiful flowers. There were various animal performance which really impressed me. I was a little afraid of the animals. Hopefully I won't be so afraid of them the next time I visit. Thank you daddy for the long drive to the farm.

Our Second Baby : Riko Irie

We feel so blessed with the borned of our 2nd baby, Riko Irie. Riko was borned on July 25th, 2008 at 7:30a.m. His weight was 3150grams and 49cm long. Looking at him reminds me when I first has Riki. God is good, all the time. At times, I feel a bit worried as to how can I cope taking care of 2 babies. So far, things have been manageable. And I'm hopeful that God will keep watching after us and blessed our kids with great health n happiness.

It's Matsuri Time (お祭り）

Well, it's matsuri time. Everyone just gets so excited wearing the traditional Japanese Yukata and joined the festival. Since we live in downtown area, they have one of the biggest festival and during this time, every once in a while, we can hear people shouting while earnestly carrying the mikoshi. Riki was so excited to be dressed up. I think next year he will be able to join the other kids to pull the dashi. What we enjoy the most is to receive many snacks and drinks from the festival for free. :)

April 2008 Highlights

April is really a busy month for me. Mommy has started to put me in a temporary day care while she's taking care of many things before our trip to Indonesia this June. It has been really difficult for mommy to do things with me while she's pregnant, and fortunately the ward office has the temporary day care service where I am allowed to use the facility for at least 12x a month with a really reasonable price. I really enjoyed spending time in day care, meeting new friends and playing with lots of new toys. There are 2 day care which I visited this month: Asakusabashi Day care and Sakamoto Day care. The Asakusabashi day care is a bit far from our house, and we needed to take the bus to go there. However, for Sakamoto Day care, it's around 20 min. walk from our place. It's a good exercise for mom too...:). Daddy and mommy also brought me to Ueno zoo in April. We were having a lot of fun, especially the place where animals such as sheeps, goats, hens are not placed in cage, and the kids are free to play and touch the animals. I was pretty daring and chasing the animals around while trying to touch them. Daddy were kept busy to look after me to make sure that those animals don't get angry to me. Mom also celebrated her 34th birthday this month, and dad has given her a surprise by sending her a bouquet of flowers thru delivery. We had dinner at a restaurant near our place, and I tried to be a good boy while dad n mom were enjoying the dinner. Happy Birthday mommy, and thank you always for taking good care of me. Luv, Riki

March Highlights (First walking experience, Suwako Lake and Sakura)

Despite daddy's busy schedules, we managed to visit several places in March. We visited Nagoya on March 1st for 2 days, and it's my first experience taking the speedy train, Shinkansen. Mommy enjoyed the chicken wings at Furaibo restaurant (she used to eat at this restaurant during her college time in L.A.). And I walked for the first time on March 3rd, right on Hinamatsuri day (I am exactly 13 months and 13 days old on this day..such a coincidence with so many 3s). We were at one of the hottokan (children's playground) when suddenly I just stood up and started to walk by myself. Since then, I just continued to master the art of walking...:) and hopefully I can start running by next month. On March 8th, daddy brought us to Suwako (Nagano prefectures). It's a beautiful lake and the lake was frozen at that time and people can basically walk on the lake itself. It was pretty cold, but we really enjoyed our time together. We decided to stay overnight at Yamanashi, and enjoyed the hot springs in the hotel. March is also an exciting month for Sakura. We had picnic on March 28th at Ueno park, and I really loved the crowd n proudly showed to all the people at how well I can actually walk. Mommy and Daddy were kept busy cause they need to keep looking out for me when I wandered around the park. :)

Star Cruise Trip To Phuket and Penang

Mommy and I met with grandpa and grandma in Singapore on Dec. 26th, and we went to Genting Highlands for 3 days before taking the Star Cruise on Dec. 30th. Uncle Ahui's family joined us as well. Many of mommy's relatives joined the cruise as well. I think there were about 30 people of us altogether. I have my first new year in the cruise. They really had a big count down party in the cruise lobby to welcome the year of 2008. I really enjoyed meeting everyone and tried out many new food in the cruise. Mommy, despite being 2 months pregnant, had only slight nausea and can eat pretty well as well. Mommy kept mentioning that the pregnancy she's experiencing now was so much different compares to the time when she was expecting me. We had a wonderful time with everyone. Thank you Mommy for bringing me around all the time.

My Birthday Party

Mommy and I went back to Indonesia on Dec. 25th, 2007. I will be in Indonesia during my birthday. Secretly, Aunt Yukiko and Mieko has organized a surprise birthday party for me on Dec. 23rd, 2007 together with Christmas. They even made a handmade birthday cake for me and I got a big present as well. We had a great time. Thank you Aunt Yukiko and Mieko.

My 10 months Medical Check Up

I just had my 10 months medical check up on November 18th, 2007 (which is a day before I turned 11 months). I only gained 100 gram from my last check up and the doctor praised me for maintaining my weight well. My present weight: 10.498 kg. Thanks to mom. I've been a little overweight during the last check up and the doctor has advised mommy to watch my diet. Even though there is only a slight increase in my weight, I do grow tall by almost 5 cm in these past 3 months. My present height: 74.4 cm. Mommy and I will be visiting Singapore and Indonesia in Christmas and we are really looking forward to a safe trip and may God be with us throughout the whole trip. :)

First Autumn Experience : 紅葉

It was really a beautiful day last Sunday. Mommy and Daddy brought me to Ueno Park to enjoy the changing of the leaves. The views are just so breathtakingly beautiful. And many leaves started to fall when we walked along the park. It's a sign that winter is approaching. :)

November 23, 2007 : First Visit to Ishihara Elephant Farm (市原ぞうの国）

Daddy and Mommy brought me to the elephant farm in Ishihara. It's about one hour drive from Tokyo. We really enjoyed the elephant shows and watching other kind of animals. Even though I couldn't comprehend much of the show, but I showed a lot of curiousity looking at the huge creatures performing in front of many audiences despite of the cold weather. Maybe when I grew a bit older, I wish I can visit this farm again. Thank you Daddy and Mommy. :)

Mommy just couldn't resist posting this picture which is taken in Seoul, Korea at one of the palaces we visited. The tourist instead of taking the pictures of the palace, they rushed around me and enthusiastically taking my pictures. Daddy was kept busy having to turn around at certain angles so that they could take good pictures of me. :)お疲れ様パパ！！

And also, I was really popular while taking United Airlines flight from Singapore to Tokyo, and the stewardess helped mommy tremendously by keeping me entertained during the long flight. :)

My 2nd DPT shot and 7 Months Health Examination

August 21st, 2007: I have my 7 months health examination. I weight 10.367 kg and has grown to 69.2 cm long. Mommy was advised to watch my diet during this time cause I'm overweight for my age. However, since I was able to turn my body and do crawling, I didn't gain as much as before. Actually, in this past 1 month, I have only gained 400gr....! and On August 24th, I have my 2nd DPT shot. Again, the doctor complimented me for I didn't cry at all. :) Recently, I can crawl all over the room in the house and keep mommy busy always. Mommy and Daddy are so worried that I will hit my head over the sharp edges furniture that they have installed many protection bumper all around the furniture. My First Trip To Seoul, Korea ( August 11th-15th)

There were about 10 of us visited Seoul, Korea from August 11th to 15th during the Obon Holiday. (Mommy, me and Daddy. Grandpa n Grandma, Aunt Yukiko's family and Aunt Mieko) It's mommy's and my first time visiting Korea. We took JAL Airlines, and I was given various kinds of toys. The flight was not too long, and it took about 2 hours to reach our destination. We departed from Haneda Airport and landed in Gimpo Airport on our way to Seoul. However, the returning to Tokyo, we departed from Incheon Airport instead and arrived in Narita Airport. Since I'm almost 7 months now, I can enjoy the baby food as well in the plane. Even though I'm still too young to enjoy the food in Seoul, I feel really happy to spend plenty of time with Daddy. Everyone seems to enjoy various kinds of Korean food during this trip. We took the Seoul City Bus Tour which is really a good way to travel around Seoul City and visited 2 palaces and various tourist attractions. Mommy quite enjoyed shopping at MyeongDong. We stayed 3 nights at Renaissance Seoul Hotel and 1 night at Sheraton Walkerhill Hotel. They were really good hotel and we were provided with baby cribs from both these hotels. I had my first swimming experience at Renaissance hotel. During this trip, I was again pretty popular due to my chubbiness, and this time, Daddy was kept busy looking after me and smiling to people who just couldn't resist touching my chubby legs n hands. Thank you Daddy n Mommy. Wish that we can have more trips together in the near future. Kamsamhamnida Daddy n Mommy......:)!!!

Sumidagawa Firework Festival (July 28th, 2007)

Every year in Japan, there are many fireworks festival held at several locations. Fortunately, from where we live, we can enjoy the Sumidagawa Fireworks really well. Of course, people are welcome to watch the performance thru TV as well. We had a party at Aunt Yukiko's house and everyone enjoyed the fireworks which started from 7:15p.m. It lasted for more than an hour, and at the end of performance, they will announce the best 3 fireworks being performed. Even though I couldn't enjoy much yet, but I do look forward to it more next year when I could probably walk and express my feeling in words. First time rolling over my body and DPT immunization(5mths and 3 wks old)

July 3rd: I can finally turn over my body for the first today. Mommy just left me on my gym for a while, and when I returned, Mommy was surprised to see me with my tummy down on the floor, and I gave mommy a really big smile to show how pleased I was cause I can now roll over freely.

July 6th: I have my first DPT immunization today at Sensoji hospital at around 1:00 p.m. It didn't hurt and I didn't cry at all. Again, the doctor complimented me for being such a good boy. :)

First trip to Bandung, June 22nd-24th, 2007

It's amazing how much energy mommy has. She has also organized a trip to Bandung. It's a city about 3 hours drive from Jakarta. Uncle Hong drove us to Bandung. Since they have built a new toll way, it took us only about 2-3 hours to this city. We rented a 3 rooms apartment at Aston Hotel, and mommy got a very good rate from this hotel by reserving it thru her friend who lives in Bandung. Bandung is extremely popular for the outlet and delicious food. The weather her is also much cooler than Jakarta. Mommy did a lot of shopping hopping from one outlet to the other. There are 16 people altogether including the driver, 2 maids and a babysitter...:). Uncle Ahui and his family went thru Puncak and visited the Safari Park before heading to Bandung. Mommy thought that it would be too tiring for me to join them to the Safari Park, so we have decided to skip that trip and went directly to Bandung from Jakarta. We all really enjoy this short trip. :)

First Trip to Malaysia (June 9th-15th, 2007)

We continued our trip to Genting Highland, Malaysia from June 9th till June 15th. We really enjoyed the cool weather here cause the hotel is located at the top of the mountain. We could sometimes see the fog in the morning or evening. The hotel which we stayed at is a five star hotels and mommy is happy cause she can use the internet service 24 hrs from the room rather than busy always looking for internet service outside. I experience taking the longest cable car in Southeast Asia and even though I couldn't feel the scariness to look down the rainforest while coming down from the top of the mountain, I'm kind of excited to have the opportunity to take it. There are so many places which we can enjoy while staying at this place. There are exciting amusement park, pools, golf courses, international shows, concerts, restaurants, shops etc. We also visited Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia and went to see one of the highest building in Asia, the twin Petronas buildings. They have a real high class shopping mall there. It took us about 1.5 hours bus trip from Genting to Kuala Lumpur and we had the chance to take the monorail as well. Mommy told me that we can visit Kota Kinabalu next time with daddy cause the beach there is real beautiful...:). Thanx mommy for bringing me to Malaysia. :)
